SOUNDS LiKE CHAOS #005
Hi Reader,
It's been a busy August at SOUNDS LiKE CHAOS, with Build Up working with young Lewisham residents in our container workspace, and hosting our first event at Piehouse Co-op, it's safe to say we are due a little break!
For now, scroll below for event photos, a new addition to our team and more ⬇️
ITCHY SCRATCHY: LOOKBACK
On Sunday 10 August, we hosted our first scratch night ITCHY SCRATCHY at Piehouse Co-Op, showcasing a wide range of talent from stand up, poetry, theatre, and music from South London talent, including a house band!

CREATiVE PRODUCER: CLEOPATRA THOMPSON
This month, we welcomed a new member to the SOUNDS LiKE CHAOS team, Creative Producer Cleo Thompson, who is also an associate who has worked on and performed in SLC shows.
Cleopatra is a vocalist, DJ and artist from SE London. Her sonic and visual work is an extension of her desire to create meaningful connections with the people around her. With a design and theatre background, Cleopatra works with communities to ignite creativity and curate spaces that invite imagination and hope. As a musician, she is carving a space in the London scene with a soulful, jazz-laced tone, having received support from Women in Jazz, the Roundhouse and the Southbank Centre.
It's not too late to book tomorrow's event, EmpowHER, hosted by Lewisham Council’s Violence Reduction Team, creating a space to amplify the voices of global majority young women aged 15–21.
Held in a beautiful, Instagram-worthy venue, this event offers the perfect backdrop to soak up positive vibes, celebrate sisterhood, and express your voice. Expect engaging panel talks, creative workshops, free goodies, all in a space made to empower and reflect.
Every month, we feature artists we have worked with, from SOUNDS LiKE CHAOS Associates to frequent collaborators and local artists.
This month, we are shouting out the incredible work from Artist Associate, Kaylah Jackson – an actress, presenter, and young creative who has played a pivotal role in the recent Build Up Program. "I’m a recent graduate of The BRIT School, where I spent three years training as an actor. Since 2019, I’ve been a member of Sounds Like Chaos, contributing to several devised shows. Most recently, I performed in the young company’s production, Hold On to Letting Go." Kaylah also took part in a training program at Reprezent Radio and is excited to expand her presence in the radio scene.
SOUNDS LiKE CHAOS, presented by Christine Bramwell, and Lewisham Refugee Migrant Network, have aradio residency on Sister Midnight FM.
Through a blend of sound, story, and reflection, the series explores what it means to build a sense of belonging in unfamiliar places/ the process of becoming familiar.
Airing on the first Tuesday of every month.
